2018 SALTWATER COWBOY
The 2018 3rd annual Saltwater Cowboy is officially
in the books ! Thank you all anglers, Captains and
Sponsors for making this the best SWC yet.
A wahoo cowboy shout out to Karma OC and all of our sponsors, donors and
the folks behind the scenes that makes this event the number one tournament in
Southern California. This years fish totals and sizes have crushed the prior years
by four fold! With the top fish, a bluefin tuna, weighing in at 208.5 lbs.
That is Wicked Tuna sized. Great job captains and anglers.
The 2018 SWC event was once again, amazing with the awards banquet held at
the Dana Point Yacht Club and silent auction, live "Texas Style" . Raffles, live band,
great food and drinks plus the crew and guests of the 18 boats competed and
fished from Catalina Island to San Clemente Island and both inner and outer waters.
With over 220 people attending the auction, we were able to raise over $10,000
as a donation for Community Outreach Alliance . Our charity of choice for 2018.
Thank you to all who made this possible.
COA's goal and mission is to offer fun and healthy activities to our community that
has been deeply affected by the drug and addiction epidemic. COA seek's to create
opportunities for youth seeking a healthy alternative to drugs and addiction.
We are all honored to help this great organization assist our future adults with a
positive path forward.

3rd Place Angler - Dean M. with a 201 lb Bluefin Tuna on Gentleman Jim
Overall Top Boat was awarded to Shannon Rose with 300 cumulative points.

1st Place Angler- Enrique Tuccio with a 61.4# BFT on MIA MAR
2nd Place Angler- Tim Kerwin with a 54.5# BFT on KAHUNA
3rd Place Angler- Logan Tom with a 51.3# YFT on HOOKED
Overall Top Boat was awarded to HOOKED for their 117.4 cumulative points.

About the Saltwater Cowboy.
Built for the Serious, Casual or First time tournament Angler
If you are looking for a fun event that will test your skills, in a relaxing gentlemans style that is blended with blues, soul and rock'n'roll, add-in beer, wine, whiskey and dancing -the Saltwater Cowboy is it. Included with the 2016 entry fee was a buffet dinner, very cool tournament tee shirts, live music provided by The Chris Anderson Group, sponsor give aways and a fun awards ceremony. This is a not for profit event. All the proceeds go to making it a best of class experience and to raise money for local charity.
A Little History, in Memory of...
Back in the day, Dan Gorman Sr. held
an annual event that included a sport fishing and tennis tournament for a weekend of fun and friendly competition. It was called the Wahoo Jones Invitational held at the East Cape, in Baja Mexico. As a tribute to the many good times and life's memories provided by this annual hoopla, Dan Jr., family and friends have decided to resurrect the past and begin the process of setting up a classic weekend of good clean fun. We hope you join us in making this a great memory for all.
